The chasen whisk is important to the art of matcha preparation. Each one of our 100-prong bamboo whisk is hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo, split into delicate tines that create the signature froth and smooth texture matcha is known for. Each whisk is crafted with care and consideration, designed to last through countless morning rituals.
How to care for your whisk
Pour hot water on your whisk prongs for around 30 seconds before whisking to increase flexibility and prevent breakage. Do not leave the whisk sitting in water, as this can lead to mold and damage the bamboo.
After using the whisk, rinse the prongs under warm water immediately after to prevent matcha from hardening, which can cause the tines to break. Never use soap or a dishwasher, as bamboo is porous and will absorb soap. Shake off excess water and place the whisk on a ceramic whisk holder to maintain its shape.
